A young Irish woman, Bridget Cleary, struggles to escape from her husband and a superstitious village who believe she has been replaced by an evil witch. 

 

The story, based on true events, is set on a remote fishing island where the "good people" are rumored to reside invisibly alongside humans, only dangerous if they desire to snatch someone into their hidden world. When Bridget, a feisty, beautiful woman falls ill, fears mount that her strong will and passion have lured wickedness into her home, and she must be stopped.
